Here are some learned skills that helped, continue to help me

Anytime I am feeling triggered, anxious, scared, worried, or agitated, I play defense. First, my awareness intensifies, my mind slows, my focus sharpens.

Awareness does not contain bias, it is consciousness without that judgment. It is a higher form of being present, being an “Observer”.

My judgment could be considered irrational or rational, however both are biased, unreliable, and fuel for suffering.

Let go of judgment, let the fog of thinking release, let reality be observed without comment.

Next, focus on giving to others immediately. Maybe a friendly smile, a kind greeting, a compliment for someone you resent. I bought a $5 chicken at a Costco and gave it to a homeless person.

Changed my attitude, my emotion, my affect that day.

Cheap investment, giving, I mean!

Giving feels like a magnet to me, a soothing potion for my nervous system, an intuitive feeling of connection to others.

Next, I count my blessings. They are many!
