This character we create, “I”, me, mine, desperately seeks approval from other “Ego’s”.
.
We also avoid criticism as much as possible. In fact, I would overachieve, exhausting myself to avoid any criticism.
.
We work hard to receive praise and avoid criticism from others.  We toil diligently to gain something so external and ephemeral.
.
Praise or criticism is not permanent. It can switch instantly.
.
Kevin Spacey and Harvey Weinstein were masters of disguise as they soaked themselves in praise and adulation.
.
All that evaporated instantly.
.
Someone’s praise or criticism has nothing to do with our happiness.
.
Why is it so important then?
.
We think praise from others contains happiness! We think criticism damages our soul.
.
We have erroneously judged many things to contain happiness, that only offer momentary pleasure or avoidance of blame.
.
Try to loosen up the need for approval when he/she arrives.
.
Take a couple breaths, focus on now, let approval go.
