The Mindful Detective: us

.
.
Your task today places you in a temporary detective role, searching for the very beginning or inception of a thought.
.
Try to notice thoughts. They may pop in or intrude as you try to find quiet. I find that mine dart in, like a mouse. Before I can catch it, it has scuttled away.
.
Just pay attention to the mental processes. Slow the breath down a bit so you can bring attention inward – where thoughts arise.
.
.
See the moment a thought begins, stays a while then disappears.
.
.
Between each thought, rest back into the quiet, until the next thought appears (out of nothing).
.
You can practice this anytime.
.
It works best to start small.
.
.
It can be done in a minute or expanded to a half-hour of practice.
.
.
Get to know your mind, your inner world!
