Be a Witness, an Observer!

.
During the day, witness your body, your mental state, your breath and this present moment.
.
.
It takes practice to not judge, to not grasp, to not take ownership, to not let the ego dominate.
.
.
When you sit in silent meditation, observe thought and emotion from a distance.
.
.
Extend your right arm fully in front of your face. Next place your left hand in the crease of the right elbow. Hands are outstretched with fingers pointing upwards.
.
.
This is a natural barrier protecting our inner world from external influences.
.
.
Thoughts and emotions are beyond the tips of your right hand, like appendages, not that important.
.
.
The permanent, important things are close to our heart, soul.
.
.
Notice the separation of thought from your core, soul.
.
.
Observe these thoughts from this distance. Know they are small, fleeting, unimportant, and hollow.
.
.
Know you are far more than thought!
