Ricard: past, future and the present

“The past no longer exists, the future hasn’t arisen yet, and the present is paradoxically both ungraspable and unchanging.
.
.
It is ungraspable because it never stays still, and it is unchanging because, in the words of the physicist Erwin Schrödinger,
.
.
“The present is the only thing that has no end.”

.

We spend most of our waking lives in a dissociative state, worrying about the past or fretting about the future.

.

Happiness only exists in the present moment!

I so identify with this at this moment. A possibility of financial stability and a job I would love. Living in the moment, knowing that my past is just that. But also the awareness that I’ve learned from the past. Don’t need to drag it along with me now. It is that. THE PAST. It IS the journey. Life isn’t fair, perfect. We might not be with the perfect mate, or even have one. It’s knowing at this moment there can be joy and happiness. It’s an “inside job”. Gratitude for what is here NOW.
