Preparation, focus is key

Inhale starts at the bottom right corner ( blue arrows).

.
Looking back on my mindfulness/meditation journey, my practice lacked the proper focus at times.
.
.
My mind would wander as I began my sits.
.
.
I took way to long, wasted so much time, arriving at the proper mindset, proper focus attitude.
.
.
Yes, my mind was slowing, emptying some of the thoughts, but proper focus could be five or ten minutes away.
.
.
Finally I would be with my breath, going slow, riding the breathing track, being one with my breath.
.
.
Our goal is to breathe slowly, deliberately, empty of thought, focused intently.
.
.
It is like we are riding with our breath, inside our nostrils, feeling the pauses intimately.
.
.
Warming up, using short three breath exercises before sitting, was needed.
.
.
We waste time thinking, ruminating, judging and comparing.
.
.
Do not start meditating till you experience a three set breath exercise thought free.
.
.
Practice the most basic, simplistic part of meditating, one breath first.
.
.
Again, our minds want to handle meditating like a cognitive event.
.
.
It is the opposite of that.
.
.
Establish an empty mind with short three breath sets first, then proceed.
