Attachments are not just possessions. Or Things we own?

.
.
Attachment is about feeding the “Ego”.
.
We feed him/her approval, adulation.
.
We crave value, importance, and relevance, incessantly.
.
We shower him/her with possession after possession to give more value to “I”, me, mine, him.
.
If I am feeling down, I go shopping to make my spirit feel better, worthy, wow.
.
A new dress, a car, a shiny new boat will heal our soul, right.
.
Happiness seems always to be in the distance, always after some future achievement.
.
This is so wrong, so wrong.
.
Happiness is all around you like it has been all around me all my life.
.
I was going to fast, running away from me to see it.
.
How about you, do you see the happiness available all around you?

  1. Egocentric people act as if everything they own is part of their existence.

I love when you compare the concept with showering. :))

  2. Men are their careers, when that career is lost, their identity is gone.

Joe Theisman, a heisman trophy winner and pro football quarterback with the Washington Redskins put it so eloquently.

In a game, on one play, Lawrence Taylot hit him and gave him a compound fracture of his leg.

In an instant he said I went from being the leader of an offense, leader of a team, a super bowl champion to plain Joe Theisman.

That persona was gone forever. He would never be the leader, the captain in a huddle ever again. Loss is enormous for an athlete whose body has never failed him, ever.

    He would never play again.
