Gratitude is a present moment activity

.
.
In group yesterday, the importance of gratitude became apparent. A kind of substitution was the initial action taken by a few.
.
Instead of worrying, desiring, feeling anxious, they gave gratitude for the obvious around them. I am grateful for this breath, for my health, for my being alive right now replaces the negative.
.
Gratitude brings us to this present moment of assessment. We are not giving gratitude for last week or last year but right now, right here.
.
Grasping the negative leads to anxiety and suffering.
.
Gratitude becomes easier when the nervous system is a friend and we can relax, settle in with our focus calmly.
.
Gratitude is the precursor to giving, loving kindness altruism as the Buddhist lament.
.
Gratitude relinquishes desire in this moment for freedom and opportunity.
.
Takes daily practice to develop these skills.
.
Gratitude leads to giving, giving leads to freedom and happiness
