Many meditators find that certain thoughts proliferate—

-thoughts about the past and future often preoccupy our minds during meditation.

You might feel disappointed about an event that you witnessed, but the event is long past.

It has already changed and gone.

Or, you might feel insecure about an activity you have to perform in the near future and hope for reassurance and support.

The event, however, has not even occurred.

The grasping—and consequently the place for letting go—is in the presently arising desire for recognition.

.

Here is where the illusion of self is fabricated; here is where it can be abandoned.
