Ezra Bayda:—Giving from the generosity of the heart is an essential root of the genuine happiness of true contentment!!!

.
.
“A line from Ernest Hemingway’s A Farewell to Arms has stayed with me for many years: “Love is the wanting to do things for.”
.
Our deepest happiness comes when we live from this place, attending not only to ourselves but to the welfare of others.
.
Yet paradoxically, even though we know we are happier when we do things for others, research shows that when we’re given the choice between doing something self-serving and doing something altruistic, more often than not we will choose the self-centered alternative. .
.
Sadly, as this research shows, we don’t always do what makes us happy.
.
Even though the deepest happiness comes from giving, most of the time, as we focus on the self-centered pursuit of our own happiness, we continue to feel separate and defended, thus guaranteeing our unhappiness.
.
It often takes a large dose of disappointment from living a self-centered life to awaken our desire for the happiness of others.
.
But once it is activated, giving from this natural generosity allows us to move out of our chronic state of separateness into a sense of connection with others.
.
Giving from the generosity of the heart is an essential root of the genuine happiness of true contentment.
.
Often, though, it is not so clear how to give from the natural generosity of the heart.”
