One Cognitive Error:..Mental Filtering

“You, or parts of yourself, focus on a single negative detail of an event and you can think of nothing else.

Positive experiences are rejected because you believe they are not real, do not last, do not count, or are only the result of luck.

You lose perspective.  For example, you prepared a nice dinner, except the salad dressing was a little too tart.

You keep having negative thoughts about the dressing, how people think you are incompetent and a terrible cook, and you are convinced the whole dinner was a  complete failure.”

We need to be aware, so we do not add cognitive errors to our PTSD symptoms.  PTSD has plenty of symptoms for us already.
