Shaila Catherine: Thoughts and Awareness?

Albrecht Dürer: Large Turf

Thoughts may seem elusive because they exist only in your mind.  Each meditator must discover how to let go of this habit.  I repeatedly remind myself to “make no plans” during meditation.  This simple reminder helps cut through the compulsive tendencies of the planning mind.  One of my students visualizes holding up a Pong-Pong paddle, imagining thoughts bouncing off with their own momentum, no aversion added.  Another student visualizes a soft whisk broom gently sweeping thoughts aside.  You may not need to add visualizations to the meditation; it may be enough to diligently return to your meditation object.

Thoughts only exist in our mind!  What else do you need to know.  They have no affect on anyone else but us, do they?

  1. We have a breathing track so,distracting the mind is not called for.

Our thoughts can not break into the breathing track when we practice it everyday for a month or two, approximately. We will have times when we focus on the tack and the lure of the thought does not grab us.

This healing is a dogfight battle with thoughts, nothing else. it is a tug of war with the ego. Trauma has let the ego manipulate us and then started bringing thoughts charged with cortisol to rule us.

That is a fact. Healing is simple in idea. stay present without thought or concern worry guilt ormshame, now that is simple to,say.

it takes no thought to do, does it?

  2. I try to see my thoughts on a tv screen, drifting away. It does work when I stop judging if its working or not :)

  3. We judge every minute of our life, we just are not aware of it. With PTSD judging got us into this mess after our trauma was over with.

Learn to observe without judging attaching and PTSD will fade.
